Simulation of Transient Flows Generated by Induced-Charge Electroosmosis

As part of our group's investigation of induced-charge electroosmosis (ICEO), we are developing a computer simulation capable of capturing the transient flows associated with ICEO in complex geometries. This work will complement our group's theoretical and experimental study of time-averaged ICEO driven flow fields. We present some preliminary results demonstrating the simulation's ability to capture the transient fluid response to a DC electric field that is suddenly turned on when all material interfaces have a fixed zeta-potential.
